Wine, music come together Saturday

Rock 'n Roll Wine's second annual Wine Amplified Festival, featuring wine tastings and a concert by Sugar Ray, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mandalay Bay Beach, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

More than 50 wineries will showcase more than 120 wines.

The party will conclude at 11 p.m., with an after-party to follow at Mandalay Bay's Moorea Beach Club.

Tickets are $65 in advance and $70 on Saturday. For more information, call 632-7580.

Decorating, remodeling show set for Cashman

The 11th Annual Fall Home Decorating and Remodeling Show is scheduled today through Sunday at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Hundreds of exhibitors will display products including spas, decks, barbecues, lighting fixtures, flooring and carpeting, windows, window coverings and cabinetry.

Live demonstrations and seminars also are planned.

The show is open from noon to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $8, $4 for seniors on Saturday and Sunday, $2 for seniors today, and children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult ticket purchase.

Maggie Smith, the actor who won an Oscar for “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” in 1969 and gained new fans in the 21st century as the dowager Countess of Grantham in “Downton Abbey” and Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films, died Friday.
