How to make seeing ‘Labor Day’ a little less painful

Guys, taking your wife or girlfriend (or both) to see “Labor Day” was always going to be a painful proposition. But now, local Century theaters are trying to make it a little less so.

The theaters are offering two-for-one admission to the movie, which chronicles the unlikely love story between a single mother (Kate Winslet) and the escaped murderer (Josh Brolin) she harbors over a long holiday weekend.

The Valentine’s Day promotion is only good this Friday through Monday, and you must present either a printed coupon from www.cinemark.com or show a barcode obtained from the site on your smartphone to the box-office cashier.

The press release announcing the deal says it’s available at participating locations without mentioning which ones. But Cinemark/Century operates the theaters at The Orleans, Santa Fe, Sam’s Town, South Point and Suncoast.

At least this way, while your significant other is getting swept up in their affair, you’ll be able to concentrate on rolling your eyes without worrying so much about your wallet.
