A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDs

"Dark Shadows" (PG-13): After being buried alive for two centuries, vampire playboy Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) is unearthed in 1972 to find his estate, as well as his descendants, in ruins in Tim Burton's take on the gothic soap opera.

Elsewhere, when his estranged father dies, a salesman (Chris Pine) connects with the sister (Elizabeth Banks) he never knew he had in "People Like Us" (PG-13); a filmmaker (Christopher Denham) and his girlfriend (Nicole Vicius) set out to expose a cult leader (Brit Marling) in "Sound of My Voice" (R); and a veteran paranormal researcher (Cillian Murphy) and his star student (Elizabeth Olsen) try to discredit a famed blind psychic (Robert De Niro) in "Red Lights" (R).

Topping today's TV transfers: "How I Met Your Mother: The Complete Seventh Season," "New Girl: Season One," "90210: The Fourth Season," "Magic City: The Complete First Season," "Hart of Dixie: The Complete First Season," "Bonanza: The Official Complete Fourth Season," "Nikita: The Complete Second Season" and "The Six Million Dollar Man: Season Two."

CDs

Muse, "The 2nd Law": Bombast knows no bounds when it comes to Muse.

The Brit stadium rockers favor zeppelin-sized tunes with everything working toward one grand crescendo after the next.

On their latest album, they delve into dubstep, a form of dance music almost as over-the-top as these dudes.

"Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot" by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard: The Fox News personality, joined by a historian, follows up "Killing Lincoln" with a look at the events surrounding the Kennedy assassination.

On the fiction front, John Sandford adds to his Virgil Flowers series with "Mad River," which finds the investigator on the trail of three teens on a killing spree.
