Bassrush Massive set to crush Orleans

There were many indelible images from last year's Electric Daisy Carnival here in Vegas, but the sight of Bassnectar (aka Lorin Ashton) whipping his long black hair in violent arcs as he bombarded the crowd with beats that registered like bowling balls to the sternum was difficult to forget.

Ashton grew up digging thrash heavyweights like Metallica and Megadeth, and he brings those bands' emphasis on torque and dense, brutish rhythms to his highly physical electronic dance music, which is rooted in dubstep.

Ashton is all about the bottom end, and as such, he's a fitting inclusion to the lineup for the Bassrush Massive, an evening of high-impact bass music.

Also on the bill is dubstep battering ram Datsik, along with 12th Planet, Excision, Noisia, who collaborated with rockers Korn on their latest disc, Knife Party and more, performing in an immersive audio-visual presentation with a sound system meant to liquefy cochleas.
