Black Star lighting up House of Blues
September 9, 2011 - 12:59 am
Debuting in the late '90s, Black Star shined brighter than even Puffy's bling did at the time. And this duo of two of New York City's all-time greatest MCs, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, couldn't have stood in starker contrast to P. Diddy's featherweight party rap, coming with a Marcus Garvey-inspired uplift that made their self-titled 1998 debut an immediate classic.
Reunited with a forthcoming new album, Black Star is lighting up the hip-hop stratosphere once again. See them at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $44.50 in advance, $48.50 day of show; call 632-7600.
