Celebrate ‘Beat’ with the Go-Gos

Here's a modest proposal. You know how Vegas now has recurring headliners such as Celine Dion and Barry Manilow? Why not book the Go-Gos for the whole summer? On the only stage in town that makes sense: The swim-up one in Mandalay Bay's beach area.

That stage, still unique and uncopied on the Strip, can test your patience for acts you really want to pay attention to. But everybody loves the Go-Gos, and nobody takes them too seriously. They are the perfect band to see wet.

If MGM Resorts fails to bite on this idea, you can at least celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Beauty and the Beat" album at 9 p.m. today at Mandalay Bay Beach, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $27.50; call 632-7580.
