Frank Sinatra Jr. brings big band to Orleans

Frank Sinatra Jr. bringing big band to Orleans

Sure he struggled in the shadow of You Know Who, but Frank Sinatra Jr. was the one you could talk to in Las Vegas, the one who knows many a local musician by first name.

Now 67, he carries some gravitas in his own right as he keeps the classic arrangements alive with a full-blown big band. "It's better to have a purpose for my doing this, other than just somebody singing Frank Sinatra, which I'm told goes on a lot in this town," he noted some years back.

Cameos on the bygone CBS show "The Defenders" could add some extra interest to Sinatra singing at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Showroom at The Orleans, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. Tickets are $33-$60.50; call 365-7075.
