Las Vegas DJ challenges fellow DJs, casino owners to donate
Wynn Nightlife resident DJ and electronic dance music megastar Diplo announced early Saturday morning that he has donated $100,000 to victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting.
Following a set at the Intrigue Nightclub, Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, took to Twitter to challenge his fellow DJs and hotel-resort owners to do the same.

“My deepest sympathies are with the victims of this horrific tragedy and their families,” Diplo wrote in a statement. “It’s my hope that these events will start a long awaited and honest conversation about the importance of gun control in America. Las Vegas is my home, and it’s devestating to see this happen in such a vibrant city with an amazing community of people I consider my family.”
Diplo wrote that his donation will go to a fund established by Clark County.
By Saturday afternoon another internationally touring DJ and Las Vegas resident appeared ready to heed the call on Twitter.
“Count me in,” replied Kaskade, a Hakkasan Group resident whose real name is Ryan Raddon.
And more DJs joined later in the day.
Tiesto (Tijs Michiel Verwest) tweeted he would donate $200,000. Valentino Khan pledged to donate his booking fee from this week.
Earlier this week, the pop music chart-topping DJ duo The Chainsmokers donated $10,000, according to Time.com.
