Los Lobos playing Boulder Station

Los Lobos can be challenging listening for adults, but youngsters can jump right in.

The eclectic "player's band" made its big pop-culture splash with the "La Bamba" soundtrack, but have defied any one sound or convention over the years. A good gateway to their humor and musicianship might be the "Los Lobos Goes Disney" album from a couple of years ago, which may or may not have led to them helping out on the equally quirky "Rango" movie.

They play at 8 p.m. today in Railhead at Boulder Station, 4111 Boulder Highway. Tickets are $23.50-$37; call 547-5300.
