Los Lobos taking stage at Silverton

Twenty years ago, Los Lobos released "Kiko," perhaps the definitive record from a band that's long been hard to define.

The album was a shadowy survey of the group's free-range influences, which ran from country, folk, Tex Mex, traditional Spanish music and much more, all interwoven into a sound as distinct as it was absorbing.

Los Lobos have made plenty of fine records since then, most recently 2010's "Tin Can Trust," but they've never done anything quite like "Kiko" - and neither has anyone else.
