Mates of State's plucky piano pop feels sweet even when the sentiment it's reflecting is decidedly sour. The warm, welcoming, intertwined voices of husband-and-wife duo of Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner are suggestive of rainbows, lollipops, puppy dogs and other things that make little girls smile. And fittingly so: The couple tours with their two young daughters in tow. See Mates of State at 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. today at Book & Stage at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
