Summer music festival celebrates ’80s

"Nina Blackwood's Absolutely '80s" summer music festival kicks off Memorial Day weekend with a free concert by Terri Nunn & Berlin at 9 p.m. Saturday on the First Street Stage at the downtown Fremont Street Experience.

The original production show, "VJ Invasion: Launch Date 8.1.81," premieres at 8:10 p.m. Sunday as an homage to the video music generation. The 35-minute production includes singing and dancing to classic hits. The show can be seen Thursdays through Tuesdays at 8, 9 and 10 p.m. on the First Street Stage.

The Nancy Rayguns will perform Tuesdays through Fridays at 9, 10 and 11 p.m. on the Third Street Stage.

Former MTV VJ Nina Blackwood's countdown of her 100 greatest songs from the '80s will appear on the street's Viva Vision screens . She also will host a series of free headliner concerts throughout the summer.
