Thrashgiving benefits Las Vegas Rescue

If you're going to dislodge neck vertebrae, might as well do it for a good cause, right?
And with another installment of the annual Thrashgiving festivities set to go down at the Cheyenne Saloon this Saturday, we can all do just that.
The whiplash-inducing lineup benefits the Las Vegas Rescue mission -- as well as local chiropractors, if inadvertently.
This year, the show is topped by veteran L.A. ragers Evildead, who reunited last year after a 15-year hiatus, along with other SoCal standouts such as Bonded By Blood, Exmortus and Fueled By Fire and others, with Vegas' Life's Torment and Toxic Artillery getting things started.
"Aside from the fact that it's going to be a great night of music, it's for a great cause," event organizer Marco Barbieri says. "I just feel like there's so much good, young thrash metal, and if we can pull together a show that's not a tour, that's kind of a one-time event combining all of the acts, it makes it that much more special."
■ As a fashion designer, Lana Fuchs has outfitted artists such as Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Juelz Santana and many others in her Billionaire Mafia line of clothing.
Now, in addition to dressing musicians, she's looking to release their albums via her new, Vegas-based record label, Billionaire Mafia Entertainment.
"Music and fashion are basically two sides of the same coin," Fuchs says. "Over the years, I've worked with some of the greatest artists, and some of the worst con artists and hustlers who are allegedly working with the artists."
And so Fuchs decided to cut out the middlemen and start her own company, recruiting music industry veteran Tracey Smith, who has worked at labels ranging from Atlantic to Interscope, to help oversee a roster that they say will encompass many genres, from rock to rap to country to pop.
"The roster can be as big as we allow it to be as long as the talent is there," Smith says.
The label is currently accepting submissions from artists and producers at traceybaltimore@billionairemafia.com.
■ Every year about this time, a crapload of dodgy seasonal CDs get released like Santa emptying his bladder on your Christmas tree. But here's one we can vouch for: "A Sinners Christmas," from Vegas' own Sin City Sinners. The disc features guest spots from such rock notables as George Lynch, Jizzy Pearl and Slim Jim Phantom. A portion of the proceeds of the CD sales will go to benefit Toys for Tots. Get a copy when the band holds a release party on Nov. 25 at Club Madrid at Santa Fe Station. Admission is free, though the show doubles as a holiday toy drive, so fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy.
