Encore, Wynn names help set XS nightclub apart
January 7, 2011 - 12:00 am
In the increasingly competitive Vegas club scene, XS at Encore enjoys a special edge over other venues: its location.
A five-star hotel with the Wynn brand provides an ideal backdrop for a club called XS, says Jesse Waits, co-owner and managing partner.
"We are lucky," Waits says. "We have a great product behind us already. We don't have to worry about the people coming in and supporting (the club)."
That doesn't mean the club rests on the hotels's laurels, though. The partnership simply allows management a little cushion to be more proactive and selective when it comes to the effort to stay ahead of the competition.
It seems to have worked. Attendance is up 15 percent over 2009, Waits says. Bottle service remains popular, though guests buy less Cristal champagne and more vodka now.
Management is bringing in new resident DJs for 2011, starting with Afro Jack, a popular European spin doctor for Mondays. Manufactured Superstars, an up-and-coming DJ team, will take a residency, too.
The club is planning some other events throughout the year, "just some things to keep it spicy," Waits says.
XS opens at 10 p.m. Fridays through Mondays. Cover charge is $20 for women, $30 for men. Cover for locals is $20. Locals also get in free on Sundays and Mondays.
