Haze continuing human aquarium, special events that made 2010 a success
January 21, 2011 - 12:00 am
Haze at Aria recently marked its first birthday with management proclaiming 2010 a good year for the nightclub.
"The year was very successful," says Jodi Myers, president of Light Group. "We're expecting 2011 to be even better."
Guests will see a continuation of the things that worked: celebrity appearances, special events and the human aquarium, an area of the club where people can watch live, themed scenes. Call it an encouraged form of people-watching.
"It's been a hot topic among customers. They love the human aquarium," Myers says. "Every week, we do a different theme. It's always interesting and fun."
The 25,000-square-foot club opened New Year's Eve 2009 at Aria in CityCenter. It incorporates traditional nightclub elements -- dancing, DJs, beautiful people -- with a few unexpected surprises.
Along with the human aquarium, the club features live theatrical performances and a sensory illusion.
The name, Haze, was inspired by owner Andrew Sasson's daughter, Haze. But it also ties in with the concept of the club. The ceiling is made up of moving tresses, so when you're on the dance floor, it feels like the ceiling is moving up and down.
"It challenges your perception of reality," Myers says.
DJs David Christian, Ikon and Karma split residency duties, spinning mashups, hip-hop and house.
Bottle service starts at $525 for three people with a minimum of two bottles. Cover charge is $20 for women and $30 for men. Thursdays are industry night and locals get in free.
If you go, "dress to impress" and get there early because it gets crowded, Myers says.
Haze is open from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. For table reservations, call 693-8300.
