Tao Beach provides minister for partyers wanting to say ‘I do’

It's always interesting to see how Las Vegas' daytime pool events continually try to outdo one another by offering amenities the others don't.

But Tao Beach at The Venetian boasts one amenity that's unusual even for a Las Vegas pool party: an ordained minister, so that, Tao Group partner Louis Abin explains, "if anybody wants to say 'I do' in Vegas, they can do so at Tao Beach."

Presumably, the minister also would be happy to hear confessions if the need for that should arise, but that's another story.

But even without onsite clergy, Tao Beach at The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, would be pretty distinctive thanks to a Balinese ambiance created by lush bamboo and design touches that, Abin says, also bring to mind Thailand, Japan and China.

This summer marks Tao Beach's fourth season. The 18,000-square-foot venue can accommodate about 1,000 people comfortably, Abin says, which makes Tao Beach "a lot more intimate" than some of Las Vegas' other pool events.

The upshot of that, he adds, is that "you're able to feel the energy more."

Tao Beach also serves as "sort of an extension" to Tao nightclub -- it remains open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights when the club is open -- to give clubgoers the option of enjoying a different sort of atmosphere, Abin says.

Tao Beach features cabanas that, depending on the day, start at about $1,500 and daybeds that start at about $150. A roster of DJs spins house, mashups and hip-hop.

Tao Beach staff members also provide guests with such luxury touches as cold towels, fruit and frozen treats.

"We pride ourselves on service," Abin says. "We really do want people to say, 'How could they do this?' with everything that's going on."

Tao Beach is open daily from 10 a.m. to sunset (later when Tao nightclub is open.). Admission is $20 per person.
