Celine Dion cancels shows due to illness

A virus that has affected her vocal chords has forced singer Celine Dion to cancel concerts at Caesars Palace today through Wednesday, according to a release from the hotel.

"I feel terrible about not being able to do these shows," Dion said in the release. "I feel so bad for the fans. I don't like to let people down. ... It's the thing that bothers me more than anything. I really hope everyone understands how sorry I am."

The virus has caused inflammation of Dion's vocal chords, and she has been instructed to rest for seven days. Shows scheduled for today, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday are canceled; the show is normally dark on Monday. Her next scheduled performance at the Colosseum is March 3.

Those who bought tickets with a credit card for a canceled performance will be automatically refunded. Others who bought tickets with cash may present the tickets at the original point of sale for a refund. Ticket holders who bought through Ticketmaster can call 1-877-423-5463.
