Earl Turner performing at Suncoast

"A lot of people lay claim to Las Vegas," says Earl Turner. "But for me it's really home. I raised my kids here."

The live-wire R&B singer first moved here from Dallas in 1989, in time to close out the era of the lounges featuring acts you sat and paid attention to.

Recent years have focused more on cruise ships, but Turner sold out a February weekend at the Suncoast and expands it to a three-nighter this weekend.

Friends and fans can expect to hear a Lou Rawls tribute, a Boyz II Men medley and an acoustic duet with son Aaron, who will tap dance to the Jason Mraz song "You and I Both."

Tickets are $17.50-$44 for 7:30 p.m. shows today through Sunday at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. Call 636-7075.
