Gabriel Iglesias broadening show

He's just the big guy Fluffy now, not necessarily the Mexican big guy Fluffy.

Gabriel Iglesias usually does his stand-up comedy in Las Vegas during Cinco de Mayo or Mexican Independence celebrations. He started to break out of that rut last fall, and this summer date further distances him from the confines of Latino comedy.

"I'm not making references only Latinos would understand. It's a broader show. Everyone can relate to it," he explained last fall.

Bill Maher he is not. "I learned early on, stay away from politics, stay away from religion and don't talk about sports. Those three right there will get you in trouble."

Iglesias performs at 10 p.m. today and Saturday at The Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $63.93-$74.93; call 792-7777.
