Six Picks: Dwight Yoakam, NOFX, ‘Grateful Dead Movie,”Bittersweet Harvest,’ lobster, Lil Jon

Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam's free-swingin' honky tonk is almost as tough as that mean-ass boyfriend he played in "Sling Blade." Dig some country music the way guys like Buck Owens intended it to be played at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Eastside Cannery Events Center, 5255 Boulder Highway. Tickets are $46.95-$63.45; call 856-5470.

NOFX

Here's a really fun/stupid challenge: See if you can possibly get more loaded than debauched punks NOFX before they stagger onstage at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hard Rock Pool, 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $34.50; call 693-5583.

'Grateful Dead Movie'

Do you wear your tie-dye T-shirt or your dancing bear costume? Decisions, decisions. To celebrate Jerry Garcia's 70th birthday, "The Grateful Dead Movie" is returning to theaters at 7 p.m. Wednesday. See it at The Orleans, Sam's Town, Santa Fe Station, South Point or Village Square.

'Bittersweet Harvest'

The harvest is almost over - "Bittersweet Harvest," that is. This bilingual Smithsonian Institution exhibit about the Bracero program, which brought two million Mexican guest workers to the U.S. from 1942 to 1964, ends its 10-week run Sunday in the Springs Preserve's Origen Museum. Admission is included with tickets ($4.95-$9.95 for Nevada residents) to the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., which is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. For more information, call 822-7700 or go online to www.springspreserve.org.

Lobster dinner

We're into lobster-bake season, and here's a way to have one without going to New England - or breaking the bank. A number of Station Casinos restaurants are offering a whole lobster with smoked sausage, steamed red potatoes, corn and drawn butter for $21.99, beginning Wednesday and continuing through August. It will be served at The Broiler at Palace Station and Boulder Station, Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station, Austin's at Texas Station, Fuego at Fiesta Henderson, The Charcoal Room at Santa Fe Station and MRKT at Aliante Station.

Lil Jon

The man, the legend - Lil Jon - DJs again Monday at XS nightclub at the Wynn. It's impossible to overstate just how familiar Lil Jon's voice is in dance club hits. On top of that, he's a bona fide DJ with a residency at the Wynn-Encore. He will make you scream "shots, shots, shots."
