Six Picks: Earth, Wind & Fire, Brazilian Soulfly, ‘Dive In Movies,’ art and wine, Olympic drink, Calvin Harris

Earth, Wind & Fire

There are still a few groups we can all agree on, right? Even if your musical tastes define you on Facebook, no one will judge you at the Hard Rock Hotel today. Earth, Wind & Fire is sort of an all-ages kitchen pass for everybody from hipsters to soccer moms. Let the EWF horns rip at 8 p.m. at 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $61-$81; call 693-5583.

Brazilian Soulfly

Brazilian Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera has been called the Bob Marley of metal for his Third World social commentary and thick, dreadlocked mane, but there's certainly no sunbaked good vibes in his band's highly percussive thrash, which incorporates Latin American instrumentation with a forest-dense arsenal of riffs. See the band at 7 p.m. today at the Cheyenne Saloon, 3103 N. Rancho Drive. Tickets are $30; call 645-4139.

'Dive In Movies'

Bring your swimsuit and your finest singing voice - "I Say a Little Prayer" and "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" aren't going to warble themselves - to the Boulevard Pool on Monday as The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, screens "My Best Friend's Wedding" as part of its "Dive In Movies" series. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the movie begins at 8.

Art and wine

Raise a glass to the genius of Claude Monet at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Wednesday night with the monthly "Art & Wine: A Perfect Pairing," which features artworks from the gallery's "Claude Monet: Impressions of Light" exhibit - and wines from Bellagio's cellar. Guiding the conversation: gallery director Tarissa Tiberti and wine director Jason Smith. The toasting, and tasting, runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South. For tickets ($30 for gallery members, $38 for nonmembers), call 693-7871.

First Place

Want to show your Olympic spirit? Try the First Place, created by First Food & Bar at the Shoppes at the Palazzo. The First Place is $12 at First through the end of the Olympics, or create your own with 2 ounces Ultimat Vodka, half an ounce Blue Curacao, three-quarters of an ounce Trader Vic's Orgeat (almond) syrup, two strawberries and one lime. Cut the lime in small pieces and muddle it in a shaker with the syrup, then add vodka; shake with ice. Slice strawberries and put them in the bottom of a rocks glass and add ice; strain the mixture over, top with the Curacao and garnish with more strawberries.

Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris takes his prodigious musical skills to Encore's club Surrender tonight. Then he DJs again Sunday at Encore Beach Club. His hits have become ubiquitous in electronic dance music, certainly "Feels So Close," "We Found Love" and "Bounce," because he is fun times.
