Six Picks: John Caparulo, Chiddy Bang, ‘Hope Springs,’ Old West revue, ‘Discover Italy,’ Zedd

John Caparulo

Which comedian can work the considerable distance between a Larry the Cable Guy stand-up special and "Chelsea Lately"? That would be John Caparulo, the frequent Chelsea Handler panelist who brings his stand-up act to the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, today through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15-$25; call 797-8055.

Chiddy Bang

Chiddy Bang is a hip-hop duo with a taste for alt-rock, as evidenced by samples of MGMT, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens and others that form the backdrop of a number of their, by turns, brainy and blustery tunes. See them at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $21; call 698-7000.

'Hope Springs'

"Hope Springs" stands out like a grown-up oasis in a summer of silliness and explosions. After 31 years of marriage, many of them spent in a rut, Kay (Meryl Streep) drags her husband, Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones), across the country to see a couples therapist (Steve Carell) in this comedic drama. While the script may not give the two Hollywood icons enough to do, it's worth the cost of a (matinee) ticket just to spend time with them.

Old West revue

Go West - and back in time - as "Bonnie's Old West Musical Revue" revives those thrilling stage days of yesteryear with a lively vaudeville show featuring everything from comedy sketches and pantomime to song and dance. Performers hit the stage at 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (through Aug. 26) in the Saloon at Bonnie Springs Ranch, 1 Gunfighter Lane. For tickets ($25.95 for adults, $18.95 for kids 4-12, children 3 and under free), call 318-6530.

'Discover Italy'

The Italian region of Lazio may not have the instant name recognition of its sisters Tuscany and Calabria, but as the site of Rome, it's celebrated as a cultural and culinary center. And it'll be the focus of this month's "Discover Italy" series at Onda Ristorante & Wine Lounge at The Mirage. Through Aug. 22, Onda will highlight Roman cuisine. The three-course prix-fixe menu is $59, with unlimited wine pairing $18 extra. To reserve, call (866) 339-4566 or visit www.Mirage.com.

Zedd

Vegas' summer is a broiling 140 bazillion degrees, yet you should get to a dayclub/pool party while you can, since summer is melting away. A great choice: Marquee Dayclub, where Zedd DJs on Saturday. He's a classically trained musician from Germany, and his post-Skrillex trance-dub remix of "The Legend of Zelda" is one of the most electrifying live songs of the past decade.
