Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week

Roseanne Barr

After being sidetracked by a presidential campaign - she was on the ballot in three states and drew close to 49,000 votes - Roseanne Barr returns to the stand-up arena, digging in for at least six weeks in the Tropicana's Laugh Factory club starting Monday. Tickets are $60.95-$82.95 for the 7 p.m. shows; call 739-2411.

Chandelle

"The Devil Is a Woman," Chandelle contends on her new album, "Cheatgrass Prison," making a compelling argument with a voice that charms, seduces and bewitches. The former Vegas resident is celebrating the release of the record with Same Sex Mary, Jack Evan Johnson, San Francesa and Tarah Grace & Hold Yer Horses at 10 p.m. Saturday at The Bunkhouse, 124 S. 11th St. Tickets are $6; call 384-4536.

'Gangster Squad'

It's an A-list cast in a B movie, but at least it's an entertainingly pulpy B movie. "Gangster Squad" never amounts to much, but Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and Emma Stone sure seem to be having a good time running around 1949 Los Angeles.

Gypsy culture

She lives in Henderson, but Oksana Marafioti (author of "American Gypsy: A Memoir") explores her family's culture at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive, illuminating the often secretive Roma world. Also on the bill: music and dance from Valeria Sokolova, Zarina Standridge and Coral Citron and artwork by Elena Pisnaya Wherry. For tickets ($10 in advance, $12 at the door), call 455-7340.

Pink's

Hot dog! If you're craving one of Pink's legendary chili dogs or one of the other varied tube steaks on the menu, you no longer have to go to the Strip or wait in a long line in Southern California to do it. Pink's has opened at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., offering specialties such as the Guadalajara Dog and - in what seems like an equal-time gesture - the Poli-Bacon Chili Cheeseburger.

Rusko

If you're looking for a fun DJ tonight, Rusko performs at Surrender. The British native cuts tracks in the hills of Laurel Canyon, Calif. And he loves Vegas, where he usually plays his club slammers "Woo Boost," "Everyday," "Somebody To Love" and "Hold On."
