Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week

Lewis Black

Is half the country still angry? It's OK. Lewis Black is angry all the time. And we wouldn't have it any other way with the sputtering comedian, who can be as tweaked by the idiocies of everyday life as he is by a presidential election. Black does his bellicose stand-up at 10 p.m. today and Saturday at The Mirage. Tickets are $85.93-$96.93; call 792-7777.

'Kings' tour

Indie hip-hop bruisers Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz, of Non Phixion and Jedi Mind Tricks, respectively, have teamed up for a new album, "Heavy Metal Kings," and ensuing tour where they hurl combustible social and political commentary at listeners like verbal Molotov cocktails. See them at 9 p.m. Thursday at the Beauty Bar, 517 Fremont St. Tickets are $16 in advance, $19 day of show; call 598-1965.

- Jason Bracelin

'Mockingbird'

The American Film Institute named him the greatest movie hero of the 20th century. See Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch the way he was intended: on the big screen. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, "To Kill a Mockingbird" has been restored and returns to theaters for one night. See it at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cannery, Colonnade, Orleans, Sam's Town, Santa Fe, South Point and Village Square.

Mob Museum

Downtown's Mob Museum commemorates its historic past Thursday with special programming marking the anniversary of the 1950 hearings by the U.S. Senate committee investigating organized crime that were held at what was then Las Vegas' federal building - and beamed to the nation via the then-new medium of television. Admission is free to Nevada residents Thursday at the museum, 300 Stewart Ave., which is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; for more information, call 229-2734.

Beaujolais Nouveau

Here's something else to look forward to this week - besides the election being over: It's Beaujolais Nouveau time, since the release is always on the third Thursday of November, and that's this Thursday. To celebrate, Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas will serve Beaujolais Nouveau-inspired specials from Thursday through Nov. 21. They include oysters du jour with a Beaujolais mignonette, pan-seared whitefish with Beaujolais bacon sauce and much more.

Estelle

Estelle performs tonight at the Bank. She was at the Bellagio nightclub back in March, when she sang her big hits "American Boy" and "One Love," plus "Freak" and a tribute of "Dance with Somebody" in honor of the late Whitney Houston.
