Volbeat

Elvis meets Metallica in the steel-belted rockabilly crunch of Volbeat, who are currently touring on a bill as eclectic as their sound with power metallers Iced Earth and the Southern rock-steeped Hellyeah also on the bill. See them all at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $35 in advance, $38 day of show; call 632-7600.

'Wizard of Oz'

Grab your ruby slippers, put on your Dorothy wig, but leave your little dog at home. "The Wizard of Oz" is coming back to the big screen at 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesday as part of the South Point's classic movie musicals series. Upcoming weeks will feature the 1954 version of "A Star Is Born" on July 17, "Gigi" on July 24 and "An American in Paris" on July 31.

Clint Holmes

The sounds of silence? Not when resident headliner Clint Holmes turns up at The Smith Center's Cabaret Jazz club to explore "This Thing Called Love" in a salute to the very different, equally de-lovely work of two American songwriters: Cole Porter and Paul Simon. Catch Holmes at 8:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Ave. Tickets ($38-$51) are available by phone at 749-2000 or online at www.thesmithcenter.com.

Great American Cookout

Leave it to a French chef to celebrate all things American: Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace will present the Great American Cookout from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, serving whole suckling pig, pulled pork, bratwurst, hot dogs, ribs and Cajun-grilled steak. It's $30 (plus tip) for all you can eat, plus drink selections from Tenaya Creek Brewery and Joseph James. Fireworks will follow, weather permitting.

- Heidi Knapp Rinella

DJ Redfoo

Check out the club section to see where superstar DJs are performing this week - from Tiesto to Paul Oakenfold, Steve Aoki, Arty and many more. But if you're still partying Monday night, go to Marquee nightclub's crazy "Party Rock" event starring DJ Redfoo of LMFAO. It's the best dress-up night of the month. Sometimes it attracts as many as 7,000 people through the door.
