Strip Tips: Dinner, dancing and directions

This week on the Strip, check out the dinner theater at Luxor, a pocket concierge at Palazzo and The Venetian and line dancing for a good cause.

Concierge app

If we only had our own personal pocket concierge, life would be so much better. How many times have you said that while wandering through a giant maze of slot machines and table games? Probably every time you've walked through a casino. Well, your wishes have been answered. The Venetian and Palazzo introduced the Pocket Concierge for Apple and Android smartphones. The app helps guests traverse the two-casino campus, which is spread out over 16 million square feet. It gives turn-by-turn directions to any location on campus while providing maps and a search function for resort landmarks.

The app is free and available for download at Google Play for Android and Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad platforms.

Dinner and show

The Luxor is bringing back dinner theater with new dinner and show packages for Tender Steak & Seafood. Starting at $99 per person, guests can get dinner at the restaurant and a ticket to see Carrot Top or Criss Angel: "Believe." The dinner is three courses with options including salmon, chicken and beef filet. Reservations are required. Call 262-4852 or visit the Tender Steak & Seafood website at luxor.com for more information.

Line dancing

Cowboys and cowgirls, dust off your cowboy hats and shine your belt buckles, Gilley's at Treasure Island is hosting a line-dancing marathon fundraiser. The "Boot Scootin' Benefit" will benefit HELP of Southern Nevada. For $10, test your bull-riding mettle on the mechanical bull or get a psychic reading from Mystic Mona. The benefit features a line-dancing marathon complete with prizes for the best dancer, best costume, worst dancer and team that can dance the longest. Pirates and Sirens will make special appearances. Gilley's will offer a variety of food and drink specials.

The benefit is from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 11. Entry is $25, which includes a raffle ticket and drink. People ages 12 and older can participate. Call 369-4357 For more information.
