Strip Tips: Wine, beer, food and freebies

This week, there are Strip offerings to fit even the tightest budgets. You can't beat free, right?

Wine and chocolate

Wine lovers and choc-aholics, this one's for you. The Chocolate Lounge & Wine Bar in Sugar Factory American Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas is offering a menu of six pairings through the end of August. Wines from Argentina, Spain, California and South Africa are paired with a variety of chocolate treats, including white chocolate; roasted almonds and gianduja chocolate; solid dark chocolate; solid baby blue chocolate, and milk chocolate with hazelnut. A single pairing costs $8, while the Grand Tour of all six pairings costs $28.

Elvis freebie

This is as good a reason as any to dress up like the king of rock 'n' roll. Guests who show up at Madame Tussauds on Aug. 16 dressed like Elvis Presley will get free admission with the purchase of another ticket. The wax figure museum is offering the freebie in honor of the 35th anniversary of Elvis' death. The deal is good only on that day and cannot be combined with other offers. Regular admission is $25.95 for adults and $15.95 for children ages 7 through 12. Children ages 6 and under are free.

For more information, call 862-7800.

Tweet for beer

Today, you can get a free pint of beer for tweeting. Head over to Ri Ra Las Vegas in Mandalay Place from 6 to 8 p.m., be one of the first 15 people to check in and get a free beer flight. Complimentary appetizers will be served, too, all in the name of International Beer Day. That's actually celebrated Sunday, but there's nothing wrong with starting the party early. If you want to attend tonight's tweetup, RSVP at twtvite.com/RiRaBeerDay.

Olympics live

If you haven't noticed by now, you can watch live coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games on the outdoor LED video screen at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort. The 130-foot-by-40-foot screen is located Strip-side near Harmon Avenue. Coverage is complete with full sound.

Food fun

Free wine and food at the Palazzo through August. On Tuesday, taste a little complimentary wine from 5 to 6 p.m. Every Wednesday in August, chefs from The Venetian and Palazzo will demonstrate their culinary abilities with cheese, fruit, sugar and ice-carving demonstrations. On Thursdays, watch Sushisamba's executive sushi chef as he demonstrates how to roll sushi and cut sashimi. Guests can taste his creations for free. Also, a sake tasting will be offered. All demonstrations and tastings will be held at the waterfall and atrium in the Palazzo. There are a variety of food-related activities going on this month at The Venetian and Palazzo. Check out their websites for more information, venetian.com or palazzo.com, or call 414-9000.
