Businessman finds home away from home at The Ogden

Six years ago, Mark Mraz was a Nevada resident, before moving back to the East Coast for a competitive career opportunity. But his recent investment in a home at The Ogden is proof that he left a piece of his heart in Las Vegas.

The New Jersey native attended college in Washington, D.C. where he studied hospitality and secured his first real job. Mraz made a mid-life career change to explore the technology industry, and in 2009, moving to Las Vegas seemed like a natural next step in honing his professional skill set. But ambition and dedication to work enticed Mraz to move back to Washington, D.C. for another job.

"When I lived in Las Vegas, I subscribed to the daily newspaper, and upon leaving, I continued that subscription in order to stay up-to-date on local happenings," Mraz said. "I followed the progress with Downtown Project and admired the transformation from afar. When I learned The Ogden was selling high-rise condominiums, I jumped at the chance to buy my second home."

Having lived on the East Coast for most of his life, Mraz is very familiar with the downtown urban lifestyle and everything it has to offer, making The Ogden's amenities and location attractive to him. He has always enjoyed the walkability, sense of community and the immediate access to popular restaurants and bars.

"I work for a small consulting firm that allows me the flexibility to work remotely," Mraz said. "I bought a place to call home at The Ogden for 'long weekend' visits. I'm sure my buddy, Jim, and his wife, Sally, are relieved I'm finally out of their guest bedroom, but perhaps even happier that I now have an awesome place with a rooftop pool and hot tub to enjoy when they visit me."

Mraz typically visits Las Vegas about once a month, but with his new home at The Ogden, he hopes to work a few extra trips into his schedule, including longer trips this winter to escape harsh weather conditions back East.

"I can't wait to settle into my new home and further experience the culture and people right outside my doorstep," he said. "One of my favorite places is The Smith Center, and I love walking to the rooftop bar at Inspire, where I'm surrounded by friendly locals. When someone asks me where I live, I proudly point to The Ogden and say, 'the 16th floor!'"

Homes at The Ogden range from a one-bedroom, 815-square-foot residence for $229,000 to a three-bedroom plus den 2,044-square-foot home for $629,000. Residences feature a modern design aesthetic in keeping with the architecture and the lifestyle vibe, private balconies and expansive views of downtown Las Vegas, the Strip and the mountains that frame the valley.

The Ogden's single-story, open floor plans offer flex spaces that can serve as a home office, den or yoga room, extra bedrooms for accommodating multigenerational family and guests and spacious windows that fill interiors with natural light.
