Premier Mortgage offers alternative lending

At Premier Mortgage Lending, owner Rick Piette has brought together everything a borrower needs to get the best mortgage loan possible: Incredible savings, an amazing team, and a premium service experience.

As the head of this locally owned and based Las Vegas mortgage brokerage, Piette has assembled what many consider to be among “the best of the best” in the industry.

A tight-knit team of talented, professional, and highly experienced loan officers who not only love what they do, but they love putting their abilities to good use on behalf of their clients.

Sydnee Johnson is one member of that team, having joined Premier in 2013. Prior to that, Sydnee had spent more than 20 years in the mortgage industry, working her way up through the ranks and learning every part of the business along the way. But when she became a loan officer many years ago, she realized she had found her true passion.

“The truth is I really love what I do as a loan officer. It’s almost addicting to me — the pace, the detective work involved to find the best loans for my clients. But what I love the most is the people,” Johnson said. “My clients rely on my knowledge and expertise to make sure they get the right home loan, and I work hard to make that happen. I work with a fantastic team at Premier that shares the same philosophy of quality and caring service. And I’m lucky enough to work with the best real estate professionals in town. When all that comes together, it creates an incredible experience for the customer.”

“At Premier, it’s a completely different mindset. We take the time to get to know and truly be of service to our clients. Because we really care about their needs, we take their business personally – and it shows.

One concern for Johnson, though, is not everyone knows they should actually shop around to find the best mortgage loan. Buyers are often referred to a lender by a builder or Realtor and they’ll go there without question. But what they don’t realize is that all lenders are not the same — and the cost of getting their loan can vary by thousands of dollars.

“What I tell any borrower who needs a mortgage loan is to shop, shop, shop,” she said. “A big bank — or even a local bank — isn’t going to be the best choice for them, especially when it comes to three things: fees, interest rate and service.

“In one loan I recently processed, I got the borrower the same interest rate they had been quoted elsewhere — while saving them $10,000 in fees. Another client never dreamed she would be able to own a home because her loan had been rejected by another lender. I was able to help her get into a house by saving her from paying unnecessary fees, which had been the reason she didn’t have the necessary funds to get approval. That was a great, great feeling — for both of us.”

Asked about her thoughts of buying a home now?

“Las Vegas has seen a slow and steady recovery in the past few years, and in my opinion, right now is an excellent time to buy a home. Even if the rates nudge a little bit higher, it’s still going to be good because there’s so much energy, activity and building going on. There’s no doubt in my mind that it’s going to be an amazing next three years, for sure.”
