Premier Mortgage offers variety of home loans

For most people, buying a home is both exciting and scary at the same time. Big dreams are on the line – such as where to live, which home to pick, what upgrades to buy, and which improvements to make.

That’s all the more reason every dime needs to be spent wisely, because if they’re not, some of those “wants” just aren’t going to make the cut.

Surprisingly, many buyers aren’t aware that their mortgage loan can be one of their biggest out-of-pocket costs of buying a home — or a choice that can save them thousands of dollars.

“The truth is, the process of selecting a mortgage lender should be no different than how people decide to buy any other item: Shop around, compare prices, then pick the best value,” said Rick Piette, owner of Premier Mortgage Lending in Las Vegas.

“It sounds simple, and it really is just that straightforward. At least, it should be. But unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

“In the past, homebuyers were typically led to believe that getting a mortgage loan was a very confusing and complicated process — and something that was best left to “the experts,” such as their real estate professional or homebuilder,” Piette said.

“This air of ‘mystery’ was built up around getting a mortgage loan and it convinced buyers they had no choice but to place their trust in these ‘experts,’ just so they’d be able to buy the home they loved.

“But here’s the dirty little secret those “experts” didn’t want you to know,” Piette said. “Mortgage loans are not rocket science.

What I mean is, of course, an experienced mortgage lender can make all difference in getting you to “loan approved” sooner (or at all, in some cases).

But determining how much a loan will actually cost a borrower is really the easiest — and only — thing a consumer needs to compare. It’s just all about the interest rate and the fees.”

Today, the internet has put the power of information and choice directly into the consumer’s hands — and one industry where that’s especially true is with mortgage loans.

Between the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau and the increased competition in providing mortgage loans, buyers now have a number of educational tools and online resources at their fingertips that can help them understand exactly how to find the best deal.

“But buyers can’t find the best deal without having choices,” Piette said. “When a Realtor refers a client to a mortgage lender — it may very well turn out to be the best loan for them. But how will they know unless they compare their fees and interest rates with other companies?

“Many consumers don’t realize that large banks and mortgage bankers don’t always offer the best rates available.

Some add large fees or increased interest rates that end up costing borrowers more money. The fact is, many consumers don’t understand these fees and simply accept them as the cost of obtaining the loan.

That’s a shame because just a little due diligence in shopping their loan around may save them from having to pay these fees at all.

At Premier Mortgage, we keep it simple: Our ‘No Fee’ loan is exactly as it sounds, and our customers are often amazed at the savings.

For our traditional loans, our loan estimate literally shows “zero” on the loan origination, underwriting, and document fee lines.

And that’s a difference that can add up to a savings of $4,000 or even more.

“Amazingly, we’ve never yet run across a buyer who said they’d rather pay us an extra $4,000 than buy that new furniture they’ve had their eye on, or have that custom-built barbecue put in the back yard,” Piette said.
