Providence’s Family Fun Festival nearly here

Providence has scheduled several communitywide events this year that embrace the fast-selling master plan’s small-town-America ambiance. The Family Fun Festival is the first one, taking place on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park at 10695 W. Dorrell Lane.

The Family Fun Festival is designed to bring families, friends and neighbors together with activities that include an obstacle course, bungee run, inflatable basketball hoops, inflatable football, parachute games, sack races, water balloons and a hula hoop and dance contest with the DJ Providence’s lovable mascot, P.D., the Providence Dog. A variety of food trucks will sell treats, including 50 Shades of Green, Curbside Café, Frozen Frog, Oming’s Kitchen, Oso Ono Shave Ice, Sausagefest, The Cookie Bar and World’s Best Corn Dogs.

In addition, some of Providence’s community partners and neighboring businesses will hand out goodies for the kids and provide information.

The other free communitywide events later this year:

■ Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday — The event features free frozen treats and a variety of activities, ice cream-eating contests, booths and more. It will be held at Huckleberry Park on Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Keeping with Providence’s literary tradition, attendees are invited to bring new and gently used books for Spread the Word Nevada, a nonprofit promoting literacy so Nevada children can experience the magic of books.

■ Providence Pride — On Nov. 19, Providence marks its 10th anniversary and is inviting everyone to its birthday party from noon to 6 p.m. with activities at its three neighborhood parks. P.D., Providence’s lovable mascot, will celebrate with attendees at Promenade Park with a walking timeline, cake and ice cream. Knickerbocker Park will have food vendors, live music, a beer and wine garden and games. Also, Huckleberry Park will feature carnival rides, contests, a DJ and food trucks. Shuttles will be available for convenient park-to-park access.

■ Community Garage Sale — Providence’s annual garage sale will be May 14, and the public is invited to explore the community for treasures at participating homes. Goodwill of Southern Nevada also will collect gently used items from the public, unsold items from the garage sale and donations.

Developed by Focus Property Group, Providence is among the country’s fastest-selling master planned communities. Its spirit is rooted in the traditions of small-town America with neighborhoods bringing people together, and reflected in the many resident-only social, educational, charitable and civic events from the Providence Master Homeowners Association. Wide tree-lined boulevards frame the 1,200-acre community which features top builders, including CalAtlantic Homes, Lennar, Richmond American Homes, Summit Homes and Woodside, offering a variety of floor plans and amenity options for every lifestyle.

In addition to the new Huckleberry Park, the master plan features The Promenade Park, Knickerbocker Park with views of the entire Las Vegas Valley and miles of trail systems. It is minutes from shopping, dining and Las Vegas Beltway and U.S. Highway 95 access, and close to Nellis and Creech Air Force bases.

Providence is in northwest Las Vegas at 7181 N. Hualapai Way, Suite 150, just north of the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way exit. For information, visit www.providencelv.com or the information center or call 702-433-5084.
