Raiders Fan makes One Las Vegas home

For LaVena Ward-Fowler, sports are everything, and more specifically, the National Football League’s Raiders.

So when she discovered that Las Vegas could be the potential future home of the Raiders, her decision to move to Las Vegas from the Bay Area was easy.

The move she had been thinking of making for nearly three decades was suddenly crystal clear with the possibility of a Raiders’ relocation to Las Vegas.

A native of Northern California, Ward-Fowler was focused on a place that would offer affordability, quality of life and the opportunity for a fresh start. And Las Vegas easily fit the bill. So last month, Ward-Fowler purchased a home at One Las Vegas, the twin, 20-story condominium towers on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard.

“I have always wanted to live in a high-rise community because of the lifestyle and amenities,’” Ward-Fowler said. “For years, I have cared for my family, including both of my parents, my uncle and my brother. My dad was a huge Raiders fan, so there is no better way to honor his legacy than to follow his favorite team to Las Vegas. I did a lot of research online and browsed many websites that displayed beautiful high-rises across the valley, but One Las Vegas was the first and last place I saw … I was instantly sold.”

Ward-Fowler, who jokingly refers to herself as a “five-star woman,” enjoys the finer things in life and has a penchant for luxury, so when presented with One Las Vegas’ long list of amenities, she said she was blown away.

Its state-of-the-art fitness center; Show, the theater room; Touch, the two massage rooms; full-service concierge; and underground covered parking topped the list of must-have amenities for Ward-Fowler. She is also looking forward to spending time on the tennis courts since learning to play the sport has been on her bucket list for many years.

“At One Las Vegas, I even have my own private storage, which is not only a rarity for a high-rise, but a huge advantage for the belongings I don’t need every day but don’t want to let go. I look back and think of how many times I tried to tell my Realtor I wanted to live on the Strip, and I’m so glad she knew One Las Vegas was truly the perfect fit for me. I wake up every morning and soak in the panoramic views of the mountains, and every night, I enjoy the glittering lights of the Strip from my balcony. I couldn’t feel more at home here,” Ward-Fowler said.

Ward-Fowler is closely following the development of the new stadium and potential new home of the NFL Raiders, which is plotted just a few miles from One Las Vegas.

“Even though my love for the community alone was more than enough to get me to buy my home, the proximity of a potential new football stadium was definitely a huge incentive for me,” Ward-Fowler said.

Homes at One Las Vegas range from 831 to 2,857 square feet, with many floor plans offering views of the mountains and the Strip. One-bedroom homes are priced from the mid-$200,000s; two-bedroom homes from the high $200,000s; and three-bedroom homes from the low $400,000s. The penthouse, offering 3,000 square feet of sweeping views, is priced at $1.1 million.

One Las Vegas is also Veterans Affairs-approved and offers 15- and 30-year fixed mortgages, as well as 10-percent-down mortgages.

One Las Vegas is located close to Interstate 15, the 215 Beltway and just minutes from McCarran International Airport. Town Square, just a few blocks north of the property, provides one-stop shopping and scores of dining and entertainment options right in the neighborhood.
