Real estate professional trades Miami for One Las Vegas

Four years ago, Janet Puig was faced with the choice to stay in Miami, where warm, sandy beaches stretch for miles along its coast, or move to Las Vegas, a desert oasis and entertainment capital of the world. After extensive research and a little persuasion from her daughter, who is a longtime resident of One Las Vegas, Puig is now her daughter's neighbor and an owner of a two-bedroom home at the twin-tower condominium high-rise community on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Puig spent most of her adult life in Miami, where she owned a real estate office, alongside her husband, Al. Together, they dominated the home-selling scene in their market. The couple sold their business in 2004, and nearly a decade later, Puig said she felt it was time for a fresh start.

"My daughter and son-in-law moved to Las Vegas in 2012, and after my husband passed, I decided to relocate and obviously had Las Vegas in mind," Puig said. "While I have many relatives on the East Coast, including my other daughter, I was still drawn to Las Vegas for many reasons, including better home values. And because so many real estate conventions are hosted in this city, I've visited frequently, each time familiarizing myself with the unique lifestyle, globally influenced dining scene and attractive weather."

In 2013, Puig sold her Miami properties, packed up her belongings and made the journey to the Silver State. She initially rented a one-bedroom home at One Las Vegas but purchased a home as soon as one became available: a large corner residence on the 10th floor offering mountain views on one side and glittering city lights on the other.

"I realized I loved everything about living at One Las Vegas, including its location, luxury amenities, maintenance-free lifestyle and the amazing staff and residents," Puig said. "As someone who comes from such a strong real estate background, I'm constantly thinking about value, and there isn't anywhere else in the city that compares with One Las Vegas. Besides, I love having a Las Vegas Boulevard address."

Puig said she is so excited to have a home that features a floor plan ideal for accommodating guests, she is inviting all her friends from Florida to visit and stay in her second bedroom. Her hope is that some of them will enjoy One Las Vegas' amenities and lifestyle so much that they move to One Las Vegas, too.

Puig spends a lot of time volunteering at her daughter's dog day care company in Southern Highlands. She is also a regular participant in many of One Las Vegas' resident activities and events, including the wine tasting and trivia nights.

"I recently attended a breakfast brunch and had the best time," Puig said. "The lifestyle director, Evelyn, makes it so much fun for residents to get to know one another. It's just another reason why I love being a resident at One Las Vegas."

Of the twin 20-story towers, DK Las purchased 295 of the project's 359 residences. Homes range from 831 to 2,857 square feet, with many floor plans offering views of the mountains and the Strip. One-bedroom homes are priced from the low $200,000s; two-bedroom homes from the high $200,000s; and three-bedroom homes from the low $400,000s. The penthouse, offering 3,000 square feet of sweeping views, is priced at $1.1 million.

One Las Vegas is close to Interstate 15, the 215 Beltway and McCarran International Airport. Town Square, just a few blocks north of the property, provides one-stop shopping and scores of dining and entertainment options right.
