Seattle family finds Inspirada

Drew and Candelaria Kjellman moved to Las Vegas five years ago, but it wasn't until last fall that they found their dream home at Inspirada, the master-planned community in the foothills of Henderson. The young couple purchased a three-bedroom home with a loft.

Drew and Candelaria lived in Seattle, but when Drew was presented with the opportunity to join the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, he knew moving to Las Vegas was the right place for his family. Things progressed quickly, and in an effort to secure a home in the valley as soon as possible, Drew turned to the Internet to find a real estate agent.

"We found a great agent who we tasked with finding a rental home for the short term," Drew said. "What I didn't realize at the time was that the handful of rental properties we were considering were all within a 10- to 15-mile radius. I flew down to look at our options and chose a condominium in the Summerlin area. Before I knew it, we were packing up and making the long trek from Seattle to Las Vegas, excited to be starting our new life as Nevada residents."

When the Kjellmans welcomed their first child in 2013, they knew it was time to start thinking about their long-term plans. They began their journey to find their dream home, and moreover, a community where they felt they could plant their roots and raise their children.

"It was important we found a home that offered more than just a place to live; if we were going to commit in such a significant investment, we wanted to feel confident and secure with our decision," Drew said. "We set our expectations pretty high, so we were thrilled when we discovered Inspirada. We had looked at many options around the valley, and nothing came close to the overall package and value at Inspirada."

After six months of touring plenty of options, the Kjellmans purchased a KB Home at Inspirada. Drew said they were able to check off everything on their wish list, including a convenient location and an outdoor lifestyle. The Kjellmans appreciate the diversity of neighborhoods, home styles and floor plans at Inspirada, a nice change from some of the valley's "cookie cutter" developments.

"Since I work in downtown Las Vegas, it's wonderful to live so close to the I-15 freeway," Drew said. "Great strides are being made in creating easy accessibility to main roads like Volunteer Boulevard. We also appreciate that Inspirada features native, lush desert landscaping, which is a refreshing departure from the 'palm tree' theme featured in many other developments in Henderson and Las Vegas. And I can't say enough great things about the parks and recreational offerings. We're surrounded by walkable trails, green fields and kid-friendly playing zones, which offers endless fresh air, activities and entertainment for our daughter, Kiki."

In November, Drew and Candelaria welcomed a baby boy, Benjamin, who is already joining Candelaria and Kiki on their daily walks to Aventura, Inspirada's newest park.

Inspirada is being developed by Inspirada Builders LLC, a partnership of four prominent homebuilders, including Beazer Homes, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Toll Brothers.

Surrounding the parks are more than two dozen model homes ready to tour in 12 new Inspirada neighborhoods featuring one-, two- and three-story single-family homes designed for every lifestyle. Inspirada is home to more than 2,500 residents who have access to programs and activities managed by a full-time staff who create social calendars to bring neighbors together in the parks and the Inspirada Community Center.
