Builder partners with West Elm to decorate models

A Cadence homebuilder has teamed up with a popular local home furnishings store to give homebuyers the opportunity to re-create the designs found in a model home.
Kimberly Ross-Mathes, director of marketing for Woodside Homes, a Cadence builder said her staff decided to collaborate with West Elm at the District at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson to decorate the models in the master-planned community at Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway.
Over the next 10 to 15 years, 13,250 homes are expected to be built at Cadence.
"Our chief marketing officer envisioned that West Elm furnishings would be a good fit for the buyers we have," she said. "The idea was to give our customers a sense that they could purchase all of the furnishings they saw in our model homes."
Ross-Mathes added that Woodside Homes sought to make the nearly impossible, possible.
"So often when you see a model home there's no way to implement the look that's displayed because builders spend money on custom designs and furnishings that a typical buyer couldn't put in their home," she said. "This is a more realistic and accessible concept for our buyers."
According to Ross-Mathes, Woodside Homes has given West Elm free reign to style the model homes any way they'd like.
"For us, we're extremely pleased to enter into this because West Elm is a Williams-Sonoma brand and is well-known by the entire population," she said.
Ross-Mathes said buyers who choose to implement West Elm designs in their homes will receive a discount.
"It gives them a design template to work from and they're able to take advantage of professional design services at a discount that West Elm extends to our buyers," she said. "So far we've received positive responses to the way our model homes look and we knew their look and design sensibility was a good fit."
