SB Architects designs showcase home for Ascaya in Henderson

SB Architects, known for site-sensitive designs at some of the world's top resort, residential and mixed-use destinations, is designing a showcase home at Ascaya in Henderson. Ascaya has selected seven of the country's top architecture firms to design showcase homes that will provide inspiration to the owners of its hillside home sites.

Ascaya is in Henderson's McCollough mountain range, with 313 unique home sites. Sales for this luxury community are being handled by the Shapiro and Sher Group, a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties team and the state's top firm for luxury home representation.

"Our showcase homes will provide design inspiration to all homeowners on the possibilities for these unique home sites," said Darin Marques, sales manager at Ascaya. "Each firm presents a unique interpretation of contemporary design with one-of-a-kind residences that will be available for sale upon the completion of the community's development."

SB Architect's custom home design will be built on a site just over a half acre with sweeping views of Las Vegas and the surrounding mountain ranges. The 7,200-square-foot estate includes four bedrooms, an office, an entertainment room and six and a half baths.

"The clean-lined, desert modern structure is composed as a series of indoor/outdoor spaces, with expanses of glass that open to outdoor rooms protected by extended overhangs," said Matt Page, LEED AP, vice president of SB Architects. "The simple massing and long, horizontal lines are tempered by the rich, earthy textures of stone, wood and corten steel."

Drawing on its extensive resort design experience, Page said the team at SB Architects approached the residence as a private resort and lifestyle experience. Pockets of flexible space can be opened or closed, enabling the owners to create different settings and experiences. "The result is a home that is equally comfortable as a private retreat for two or a setting for an expansive pool-side party," Page said.

Page said the home's design fits perfectly in its triangular-shaped home site and is composed of three distinct destinations linked together by outdoor rooms. "The home is entirely private from the street," he said. "A driveway tucked into the slope leads to a low-walled entry court and a tree-lined garden entry walk creates a stunning arrival experience."

He said the estate's expansive living/dining/kitchen area is both the literal and figurative centerpiece of the home, with walls that open almost entirely to the infinity pool and city view.

"Through a series of clerestory windows, the roof seems to float, semi-disconnected from the structure," he said. "The indoor and outdoor spaces flow to the covered outdoor dining room, outdoor fire pit and gathering space, indoor multi-purpose room with roof deck and outdoor spa."

On the opposite side of the home, a ground-floor master suite opens up to the pool and yoga lawn.

"This beautiful home will be an inspiration to future homeowners at Ascaya," Marques said. "Their design not only utilizes the natural elements of this beautiful location, it celebrates them."

The community's $25 million clubhouse was recently unveiled and is projected to begin construction in early 2016. The 22,000-square-foot clubhouse will include a resort-style pool with integrated lap pool, tennis courts, meeting spaces, exercise room, movement studio, spa, children's play area and event lawn.

Also currently in development are Ascaya's first custom homes. The community's first home officially broke ground in July.

Nestled into the desert landscape, Ascaya is a collection of 313 estate sites that will boast Southern Nevada's most coveted and opulent housing development. It is nine miles south of the Las Vegas Strip on the McCullough Range in Henderson, Nevada. It rises nearly 1,000 feet above the Las Vegas Valley and features views of the city and surrounding mountains. For more information, call the sales office at 702-978-5800 or visit www.ascaya.com.
