FLOWERPOWER

Floral prints take some warming up to. It's one of the hottest trends to emerge this spring, though, so we suggest you start rubbing elbows with it now.

Since it can be a little overwhelming in large doses, we suggest starting small. A pair of ballet flats or a hat, such as this baseball cap from Urban Outfitters, lets you rock the trend at a low volume. Wear the cap with a pair of distressed jeans and a jersey knit top in a neutral color.

Once you've graduated from floral initiation, step it up with a larger print such as this vinyl tote from Forever 21. It will serve as a fine complement to a colorful (butter yellow) dress or pair of city shorts.

Last, this floral print dress by Isaac Mizrahi for Target applies only when you've fully embraced this trend. Understand that anything else you throw on with it should be understated in color and size.

Now go grow your own garden.
