High Style on the Down Low

If we didn't know any better, we'd say Victoria Beckham was going for an incognito look. While her ensemble as a whole undoubtedly says, "Shhh, keep it on the down low," it's the human accessories that give her away. We do, however, applaud the effort.
For anyone in need of a low profile get up, use Posh here as a model. She immediately sets the tone with her military style trench coat. The trench and covert operations go hand-in-hand for a reason. Note the high collars and ample coverage. Whether Beckham sports her birthday suit underneath or a deep sea diving uniform is questionable. The fact her waist gets cinched and the A-line skirt of the coat creates a bit of a figure for the figureless acts as the big maraschino cherry on top of this look.
Clearly the big, embellished tote serves two purposes. First, to store a backup disguise, and second, to draw our eyes elsewhere. If a pailette-saturated bag is good for anything, it's distraction. Could it also carry a few things for the kiddies? Perhaps, but we like the getaway story better.
Kudos to the fedora and aviator sunglasses. We don't know if she's headed to a gig at a blues joint or just really trend-conscious. We do know, though, that the only thing missing from this picture is a burning, filterless cigarette hanging from her mouth. Great editing on Beckham's part.
As for the footwear, it's hard to tell if the distressed look was intentional by the designer or something the British import came upon through wear and tear. Just like she intended with the rest of her outfit, it remains a mystery.
Here's how to copy Victoria Beckham's undercover look.
