Back to the Future

Annie Creamcheese, the vintage of the future boutique at the Shoppes at the Palazzo, put on a fashion show Monday that was a real blast from the past. Vintage garments from the authorities in high fashion like Chanel, Pucci and Yves Saint Laurent walked the runway, as well as funky new lines. Sunset Tan’s Janelle Perry hosted the show inside the Cathouse Loungerie’s ultra lounge at the Luxor. Here’s a look at the outfits that graced the runway.

Skip the Suds

Whether you don’t have time to wash your hair or you intentionally skip a day, no one wants the unwashed look. Somehow oily build up and dull, dry ends never leave a good impression. To the relief of you and your unwashed hair, the beauty industry has developed ways to forego the shower without anyone being the wiser: dry shampoos and spray-in conditioner. The former disguises any unkemptness by absorbing oil and the latter detangles hair and refreshes your overall look. Now you can skip the hat day or the quickie ponytail for any hair style you choose.

With Child, With Style

It used to be that two lines on the pregnancy test strip meant nine months of frump. Muu muus, overalls and redundant message tees (“Baby on board”) were all moms-to-be had to choose from in wardrobe options. Today, women go full term without skipping a style beat. So, who’s to thank for the change? Celebrities and their high-profile pregnancies.

Blazing Trails

Think of it as your VIP card at work. The perfect blazer sends a strong message of professionalism. That doesn’t mean it should strip you of your creative side, though. Incorporate the same flair you would out-of-the-office with this garment.

Blast from the Past: CatHouse Loungerie, a dining and nightlife hotspot at the Luxor, will surprise partygoers and fashionistas alike on Monday as fashion boutique Annie Creamcheese turns the ultra lounge into a catwalk. Flaunting the boutique’s hottest vintage designs, the show will feature such timeless designers as Chanel, Pucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and more for Madame Mondays, a locals’ night event. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. and the fashion show begins at midnight.

SCARF IT UP

Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to the summer scarf. This accessory can be worn the classic way — around the neck — as a head wrap or tied onto a purse handle for a little flair. We suggest packing one in a neutral shade for your summer travels. It will board the plane with you, accompany you to the beach and mingle with crowds during cocktails. Here are three options to choose from. Each appeals to a different budget.

Clubbin’ Christian

The latest club to hit the Strip is serving up a delicious cocktail of fashion and nightlife. The same man responsible for such lines as Ed Hardy, Smet, Crystal Rock and, of course, Christian Audigier, brings Christian Audigier The Nightclub to Treasure Island. Audigier splashed his latest project, which opened this month, with the same signature elements that have popularized the designer. Red velvet walls, black glass chandeliers and skull-and-rose-decorated mirrors are just some of the features that greet guests of the club.

Sizing Up the Competition

I’ve been told I’m a 10. But I’ve also heard I’m an 8, 40, 46 and, my personal favorite, “medium.” When you’re talking women’s fashion sizes, the numbers can rival Mariah Carey’s vocal chords in their broad range. A size that fits like a glove at one store could have you swimming in fabric at another.

FINAL DESTINATION

Traveling always poses fashion challenges. It begins with the packing process and follows you to the very last day of your trip when you can’t decide how to keep your sense of style during a flight with two layovers.

THE KEYS TO STYLE

Alicia Keys sings in a deep, sultry voice but she hits a high note with this simple outfit. Preparing to meet a crowd of screaming teenagers on the set of MTV’s TRL, Keys manages to keep it cool from head-to-toe.
