PARTY ALL THE TIME

No matter what your plans are for New Year's Eve, the event calls for the right outfit to fit the occasion. Whether you plan to celebrate at a black-tie affair, tip glasses at a club, spend time with the family or escape to the country, we have the look that matches the mood. Here's a look at four ways you can put together outfits that will have you celebrating until after the stroke of midnight.

TIE ONE ON

Black tie calls for nothing less than a maxi-length gown. Accessorize this look with just a flash of metallic -- a sexy stiletto, an embellished choker or a bejewelled cuff. Just stick with one of these options, not all of them. To ward off a chill in the air, opt for a cropped jacket that will play off the proportion of the gown. In case of a red carpet, be sure to wear a lip gloss in bright berry. The flashbulbs will seek you out.

BIG COUNTRY

Just because you've decided to sequester yourself from the masses outside the city doesn't mean you should ignore your look. In fact, the more effort you put into an outfit, the better you will feel about this changing of the calendar. Look for eccentric pieces such as a shimmery skirt paired with a simple sweater or cardigan or a sequined top paired with a simple skirt. Knee-length slouchy boots complete this casual, yet put-together, look.

ALL IN THE FAMILY

The family get-together creates an opportunity for you to impress your relatives without going overboard. Go for a dress with minimal embellishment, or chose to put the sparkle on your shoes, preferably demure ballet flats. Or wear a festively colored shoe with opaque tights in the same color to elongate your legs. Just don't arrive empty-handed. Your mother-in-law will appreciate a token gift such as a candle.

DRINK IT IN

Cocktail dresses have a habit of knowing just how to make an impression as they walk in a room. A standout color, such as this kelly green version from Zac Posen, will turn heads. For those who prefer a hint of subtlety, add a short yet smart tuxedo jacket, one of the new rages in fashion. Everyone seems to be designing one. A dramatic detail on your shoes can't hurt either. If a chill has you worried about bare legs, consider donning a pair of opaque hose, perfectly acceptable even with this showstopper.
