Prep Like a Star
September 18, 2008 - 9:00 pm
When the stars get ready for a big event, they pull out all the stops. Here's a look at five actresses nominated for Emmys and the preparations we suspect they'll take for the big night. To pull it off locally, check out the professionals we've highlighted.
Tune in to the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday night on ABC to see which celebrities did it right and who could've used a little more help.
STYLIST
A stylist in Hollywood has become as mandatory as an agent. Everyone has one, including America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty." She is one of the curvier starlets in the industry and that never keeps her stylist from putting her in dazzling ensembles. Prediction: Vibrant color, waist-defining dress. Do it locally: Jenna Doughton, local life stylist, charges $100 an hour to give clients a head-to-toe glamorous look no matter their body type. wwybw.com, 702-569-1008
HAIR
Heidi Klum's hair stylist almost always makes her 'do a focal point. At the Emmy's two years ago, she sported an artistic updo. Last year it was a side swept creation of ringlets. Prediction: Klum is nominated as best reality show host for "Project Runway," so the wow factor will be in overdrive. She's gone up the past three years so we'd like to see it come down on Sunday. Do it locally: Melissa Scoville will come to you for a flat fee of $250. She's worked on Kelly Clarkson, Rosario Dawson and Kelly Osbourne. 702-581-8339
MAKEUP
Christina Applegate of "Samantha Who?" has been synonymous with red lips since her "Married With Children" days and that's a tough makeup feat to pull off. The actress surely solicits the help of a professional and Sunday night will be no exception. Prediction: Classic glamour. Red lips and cat eye eyeliner, a la Veronica Lake. Do it locally: Barbra Jo Batterman will come to your home and turn you into a "better version of you" for $125. Batterman's clients include Heidi Klum and Shania Twain. makeupartist-bjb.com, 702-498-LIPS
TANNING
Unless they're known to favor the natural look, you can bet most of the actresses Sunday night will be rocking an airbrush tan. The key is looking like you aren't. Kristin Chenoweth of "Pushing Daisies" always has a marvelous glow sans the orange tint. Prediction: Look for a bronzed Chenoweth with shimmering shoulders and airbrush-sculpted arms. Do it locally: LA Sunset Tan has a Custom Airbrush Mobile division that comes to you for $125. palmsplace.com/sunset, 702-944-3258
TRAINER
Kyra Sedgewick, who stars in "The Closer," has the kind of body that only a personal trainer can achieve. The dress she wore to last year's Emmy's didn't do her, or that amazing bod, an ounce of justice. Prediction: We hope she flaunts the goods in an unforgiving gown that serves a delicious platter of toned biceps, round shoulders and tight buttocks. Do it locally: Fitbodi owner Lisa Maloy trains clients at their homes, starting at $35 a session. lisamaloy.com, 702-373-6278
