SUMMER SUITS
June 27, 2008 - 9:00 pm
You could head to the pool in just any old swimsuit. Or you could put together a chic ensemble that will get you noticed. With temperatures breaking 100 degrees, we put together three looks using one-piece suits that will have you turning heads poolside.
NAUGHTY NAUTICAL
The mix of red, white and blue mixed with stripes conjures up the preppy looks you would expect to find in the Hamptons. Start with a swimsuit with a high cut to elongate your legs, and then mix your stripes and colors to capture the nautical feel. Espradrilles with their rope platforms work best for this look. A touch of yellow, such as in the stripes of your cover-up, can add a dose of femininity to this look.
MIAMI VICE
This look targets the chicest of chic who wants a glamorous look reminiscent of Miami. A halter top one-piece swimsuit will make the most of your curves while still capturing a Jackie O vibe. Metallic accessories are a must for this look. Think platform heels, beach totes and a necklace in gold or silver. Cover up with a kaftan bedazzled with sparkles and top off your look with a wide-brimmed hat and large sunglasses.
CARIBBEAN DREAM
With this look, anything goes. Bright colors of any hue look perfect at the pool, and mixing them up only makes the look better. Blocks of color look good on any body shape, so don't be afraid to go bold. A cover-up such as a T-shirt dress in tie-dye colors paired with strappy sandals and bright sunglasses will have you thinking about the blue waters of the Caribbean in no time.
