WALK WITH A DOC PLANNED FOR THIRD THURSDAYS AT LORENZI PARK

University Medical Center plans to host free Walk With A Doc events at 7 a.m. the third Thursday of each month at Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave. Participants are asked to meet at the tennis courts.

The program emphasizes 150 minutes of exercise as a way to become healthier and for people to be better informed about their health. Each walk will open with a three- to five-minute health talk followed by a 30- to 45-minute walk. During the walk, a physician who is the featured speaker will answer general health questions.

HOSPITAL, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE TO DEVELOP GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

MountainView Hospital and the University of Nevada School of Medicine have agreed to work toward the development of an expanded Graduate Medical Education program based at MountainView, 3100 N. Tenaya Way. All program positions are open to applicants from any accredited medical school.

The program will help enhance the local supply of physicians serving Southern Nevada and help to improve patient care access for the Las Vegas community. The first residency program is expected to begin in July 2016.

MIGRAINE RELIEF CENTER OPENS IN HENDERSON

The Migraine Relief Center has opened at 2779 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Suite 100, in Henderson. It is a medical facility run by board-certified physicians dedicated to helping patients alleviate and reduce migraine attacks.

CAMP SAM TO OFFER ACTIVITIES FOR ADULTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES

Nonprofit Camp Sam, 7121 W. Craig Road, Suite 113, plans to offer a summer camp for adults 21 or older with cognitive and learning disabilities at Camp Lee Canyon on Mount Charleston Aug. 5-8. Check-in is planned from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 5. Parents/guardians must provide transportation to and from camp. All meals and snacks will be provided.

The camp is set to feature a high ropes challenge course, archery, Zumba, animals from Roos-N-More, K-9 Therapy Dogs, campfires, hikes, karaoke, games and a camp dance.

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT ENROLLMENT SESSIONS SET AT LIBRARIES

The Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, plans to host a special enrollment session regarding the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) from 10 a.m. to noon June 18 in the conference room. Attendees can enroll in a health plan during the special enrollment period.

A session is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

DIABETES LIMB-SAVING PROGRAM LAUNCHED

Doctors and nurses who are members of the Summerlin Lions Club Volunteer Medical Team plan to partner with Preventive Foot Care Centers of America for the ongoing Save a Limb and Maybe a Life Free Foot Screening Program for adult diabetics June 26 in the Summerlin Hospital Medical Building, 653 N. Town Center Drive, Suite 40 (office suite of Dr. Alan J. Stahl).

The program is administered by the nonprofit Lower Extremity Amputation Prevention (LEAP) Alliance, a Las Vegas-based organization of health professionals and community service leaders who collaborate for amputation-prevention community service programs.
