Designer blends aluminum, glass in new tile collection

Erin Adams, one of today's most innovative tile designers and founder of Erin Adams Design, recently introduced Luna, her new environmentally conscious glass and aluminum tile collection.

The collection was developed in collaboration with Mexico-based Allumillenium Tile. Adams' complete tile line is available through Ann Sacks Tile & Stone showrooms nationwide.

"The concept behind Luna is the idea of marrying two materials together in a setting that highlights the differences and similarities of each, and invites consumers to take part in creating an area within the home that encourages visual exploration and tactile effect," Adams said.

Careful attention to the role that color and shape play as elements of design is as evident in the new tiles as the dedication to superior craftsmanship. Deep purple and vibrant red circles are surrounded by bright, sand-blasted aluminum tiles to provide a bold visual landscape, while lush green and muted brown hues are sand-brushed onto brass tile and echo serene elegance.

Luna also marks Adams' commitment to Earth's natural landscape by utilizing technologies that limit waste. All aluminum used in Luna is recycled, and the oil used to heat up the metals during production is recycled car oil.

The handcrafted tiles are available in sizes ranging from 1 inch by 6 inches to 6 inches by 6 inches, and come in a variety of 36 colors. Both size and color can be customized to accommodate decorative plans.

The aluminum tiles come in 3 finishes: brushed, sand blasted and vibrated, and range from $100 to $160 per square foot. The brass tile is available in 4 finishes: sand brushed, green, verdigis and brown, and ranges from $170 to $260 per square foot.
