Keep paper clutter under control with routine tasks

Here are four ways to combat paper clutter.
* Analyze where the paper clutter comes from. Start by making a list of types of papers you handle, then figure out what available storage you have.
* Sort and purge. Set up two bins: a keep pile and one for recycling/shredding. Ask yourself if you really need the document, when you need it and where you will put it until then.
* Classify, contain and label. Papers that you are keeping will fall into two categories: active or reference. Active papers need to be on a desk or counter, while reference papers can go into a filing cabinet.
* Create a regular decluttering routine. Maintain the paper flow by sorting mail daily, creating a specific place for bills and a calendar and setting aside time for filing once a week.
