Sonia debuts moveable mirror magnifier

For those who wear glasses, performing tasks in the bathroom such as shaving or applying makeup without them can be frustrating. Equally frustrating can be trying to find a place to store a tabletop magnifier or getting the right angle on one that mounts to the wall.

Spanish manufacturer Sonia, which specializes in bathroom vanities and storage solutions, has come up with a simpler solution. It's new Aluminium series mirror eliminates the need for a separate magnifying mirror with the use of a magnet placed on a pendulum behind the plate glass mirror. The magnet attracts another magnet that is concealed within a miniature magnifying mirror, allowing users to slide the small mirror anywhere on the large mirror.

"The Aluminum Series Mirror is a very clever product that combines two mirrors in one," said Sonia's national sales manager Jody Rosenberg. "Finally, there's no need for the big, bulky standalone magnifying mirror anymore, which takes up space and is low on style."

When not in use, the mini magnifier can be pulled off the surface and stored away.

The optional feature can be placed on many of Sonia's mirrors.

Tundra tackles home fires

For many of us, it's easy to get overwhelmed by an emergency situation. And, when it comes to fighting a fire a home, who wouldn't appreciate a handy fire extinguisher that's as simple to use as aerosol spray.

Tundra Fire Extinguishing Spray is a strong, accurate, fast and effective way to put out home fires. The extremely portable extinguisher can be kept in the kitchen or garage, as well as the office and recreational vehicles.

It works on household fires including those involving paper, fabric, wood, cooking oils, electrical appliances and equipment.

Part of the First Alert brand of home-safety products, Tundra lasts four times longer than traditional fire extinguishers, according to manufacturer BRK Brands, which conducted performance tests.

"We developed this product in response to consumers who told us they find traditional fire extinguishers to be intimidating to use," said Deborah Hanson, BRK Brands/First Alert director of external affairs. "Tundra Fire Extinguishing Spray has a familiar design that is as easy to use as other common household products. That means consumers can respond more quickly."

Just 9 inches tall and weighing about 22 ounces, Tundra is compact and lightweight, making it easy to store in an average-size cabinet or drawer.

After using it, the discharged spray is just wiped up with a damp cloth.

Even with the Tundra nearby, First Alert advises all consumers to call the fire department and evacuate others from the building before attempting to put out any fire.

Gaining control over this annual weed is not easy to do

To make sure it doesn’t return you have to interrupt the seed-to-flowering-plant cycle at least for a couple of years and fill the voids with something competitive.

Why did my bird of paradise plants quit blooming?

They were in bloom when we planted them five or six years ago, and they bloomed the following year as well. But they have not bloomed again.
