NFL players to help raise money for local libraries

Professional football players will be in town for a different game during the NFL draft weekend.

At 2 p.m. April 28, Ruegy's Readers Bowling for Books at the Suncoast will bring together locals, business sponsors and NFL athletes to bowl for charity and raise money for Clark County elementary school libraries.

Ruegy's Readers was founded by native Las Vegan and New York Giant offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer. He supports childhood literacy by providing additional funding to elementary school libraries. The goal for Bowling for Books at the Suncoast is to raise money for five $3,000 scholarships for the libraries.

"It is important to give back to the community I came from," Ruegamer said. "There are still lanes open for sponsorship and great silent auction items to bid on. Every donation will support our children's education by furthering our goal of encouraging kids one book at a time."

Sponsorship packages priced from $1,000 to $4,500 are still available.

Sponsored teams will be paired with players including Joe Andruzzi of the Cleveland Browns, Marco Rivera of the Dallas Cowboys and Kevin Barry of the Green Bay Packers.

Individuals can participate for $100 and will be assigned to an open lane.

The event will include a silent auction featuring a variety of authentic autographed NFL gear. Entry into the silent auction is $20.
