Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, Full Moon: Meet at the tour gate Monday at 7:45 p.m. for a two-hour hike with some bouldering at Sandstone Canyon. Arrive 15 minutes early, as the park gates close when the hike starts. No dogs or children under 12 years old allowed. For details call 875-4141.
Red Rock Canyon, South Sister: A very strenuous five-mile round-trip hike, with a 2,000-foot gain, Friday to the peak using the alternate route from the Old Mill picnic in Lee Canyon (515-5367).
The Las Vegas High Rollers and Strollers: Members of the American Volkssport Association will have an easy to moderate group walk at Peccole Ranch on Saturday at 7 a.m. The walk is suitable for baby strollers and wheelchairs. Sierra Club: The Southern Nevada Group offers a "Beginner Backpack" event. Start Saturday with a one-mile hike up Bristlecone Loop, pitch your tent at a primitive campsite and learn a lesson in "Leave No Trace." On Sept. 2, hike up to the ridge, then backpack the one-mile to the cars. Must carry water, tents, stove, food, etc. (open campfires not permitted). Contact: Brad "Gus" Gustafson at 278-1435.

Two hundred volunteers (minimum age is 12 years old with parental approval form) for litter/debris cleanup from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the Sloan Canyon National Conversation Area. More than 100 volunteers are needed from 8 - 11:30 a.m., Sept. 29, for litter/debris cleanup at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
