Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Monday at the Rock: A moderate four-mile hike through Pine Creek (515-5367).
Red Rock Canyon, Griffith Peak: A very strenuous nine-mile hike, with a 3,200-foot gain, through Rainbow Canyon to the peak (515-5367).
Red Rock Canyon, Inscription Hill: A moderate four-mile hike Saturday along the southern escarpment to learn how the hill got its name (515-5367).
The Las Vegas High Rollers and Strollers: Members of the American Volkssport Association will have an easy to moderate Boulder City group walk at 7 a.m. Saturday. Meet at the Historic Hotel, 1305 Arizona St. Walk is suitable for baby strollers and wheelchairs (242-4105).

Red Rock Canyon, Junior Naturalists: Saturday, kids (ages 2-6) will love this easy one-mile hike along the Children's Discovery Trail to learn about desert life. Limited space (515-5367).
Around the Bend Friends: This group of people, 50 years and over, interested in hiking and related social activities will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Santa Fe Casino, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, South Parking Garage, on the left of Level 3, for a moderate three-hour hike at Mount Charleston (642-2285).

Get Outdoors Nevada: Register now for the following events. Fifty volunteers (ages 18 or older) are needed Oct. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the National Wildlife Refuge for litter and debris cleanup. Two hundred volunteers are needed Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center, Red Springs, and Scenic Loop. Ages 14 and older will do trail work involving hiking and lifting and graffiti removal, children ages 5 through 13 can paint, plant and remove trash.
