MUSIC

Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane, will host a musical concert featuring Lee Richey, Jack Gaughan, Raymond Pancarowicz, D. Gause, Paul Firak and Jeremy Meronuck at 3 p.m. Sept. 25. Admission is $15. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Gateway Arts Foundation's scholarship fund for young Las Vegas artists (255-0695).

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will host a free family concert featuring works by Brahms, Mendelsohn and Rachmaninov at 3 p.m. Sept. 26. The concert will feature Lee Richey, Jack Gaughan, Raymond Pancarowicz, D. Gause, Paul Firak and Nathan Bonora (341-7800).

EVENTS

Christ the King Roman Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, will host an Independence Festival focusing on Mexico and Central American countries, and featuring a variety of foods, games and activities, cultural performing artists and more, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds go toward youth activities and outreach programs for the community (871-1904).

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Our Lady of the Rosary, will have a luncheon and fashion show sponsored by J.C. Penney noon-3 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Ave Maria Center at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. A donation of $20 is suggested and includes entry for the door prize drawing. St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road, will have its 38th annual Greek Food Festival 3-11 p.m. Friday and Sept. 25, and noon-10 p.m. Sept. 26, featuring Greek food, dancing, shops, a children's area and a tour of the church. St. Anne Catholic Church and School, will have its annual Fun Fair featuring fellowship, games, bounce houses and a giant slide, contests, prizes, a drawing, a silent auction and a variety of food items, as well as live entertainment with DJs, mariachis, dancing and more, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Oct. 2 on the school grounds at 1813 S. Maryland Parkway. Admission is free (735-0510).

Trinity United Methodist Church, 6151 W. Charleston Blvd., will have a fall festival and yard sale 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 2 (870-4747).

St. Francis of Assisi Parish will have its Feast Day Festival featuring food booths, a bocce ball tournament, a dog show, "sports bar" area for viewing games, a boutique and book booth, and live entertainment, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 2-3 at 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson. The event also will have children's activities, including ponies, a pumpkin walk, jump houses, games and prizes. The blessing of the animals will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 3. The event will raise funds for the parish's church and Catholic school (914-2175).

SERVICES

Jesus the Good Shepherd Anglican Church will have its annual blessing of the animals at 9 a.m. Oct. 3 at O'Callaghan Park, 601 Skyline Road, Henderson. All creatures, including dogs, cats, birds, lizards, horses, hamsters, fish, tortoises and more, are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their own water bowls, water, pet treats and cleanup bags (250-6678).

Beginning Sunday, Trinity United Methodist Church will offer a new Vietnamese language ministry at 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebration at 6151 W. Charleston Blvd. (870-4747).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will have a Youth Sunday celebration Sept. 25 with a 9:30 a.m. service, followed by a Western "Ho-Down" and lunch (732-2052).

MEETINGS

Wellspring Church of All Nations, 4870 Janell Drive, will offer the class "Prayer Development 101" beginning Monday at 7 p.m. The registration fee is $25 per school year and the tuition fee is $50 per each 10-week class (631-5027).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., offers English as a Second Language classes at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays (541-1952 or 732-2052).

Stillpoint Center for Spiritual Development, 8072 W. Sahara Ave., will offer an interfaith meditation service with David Scheuneman at 6 p.m. Sept. 26. A $5 donation is suggested. Registration is required (243-4040).

Singles groups
